Bill Aims To Legalize Gambling In Ukraine

A member of the Ukrainian parliament has introduced a bill that would legalize gambling in the European country of 45 million.

The bill, titled Parliament Bill No. 9098 was introduced by MP Oleg Tsarev and would allow for legal casino action- with serious limitations. The limitations include allowing gambling only inside five star hotels with at least sixty three rooms as well as four star hotels with at least sixty rooms. These hotels must also be located within the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

Tsarev claims that the legalization of gambling will not cost the government anything because expenses would be paid by applicant operators. Revenues would also be generated by taxation of casino winnings. Tsarev also contends that a 2009 law that banned all gambling has had barely any impact, and has driven gambling to the unregulated world of the underground, putting players in potentially dangerous situations.
