German Court Rules In Favor Of Blocking Private Gambling Companys

September 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Germany’s Federal Court of Justice has upheld a ban that prohibits private companies from operating online betting sites.

The court ruled in favor of the prohibition of private sites saying that it is necessary to combat the dangers associated with online gambling, a report from Bloomberg states.

Speaking about the ruling, Federal Court of Justice Presiding Judge Joachim Bornkamm said, “Because of the greater dangers of the Internet, above all anonymity, lack of social control and accessibility at any time, this sales venue can be subject to stricter regulation.”

Gaming company Bwin .e.K. issued comment on the ruling saying, “The ban violates European rules and won’t last. A regulated market opening is the only way to combat the black market in Germany and to comply with EU requirements.”

Bwin e.K. has the option of filing a constitutional complaint, but it is expected to not have a ruling until the end of the year if it pursues its case.

More Details Emerge About Record Online Jackpot Winner

September 27, 2011 Leave a comment

More details have emerged about the winner of a record €11.7 million jackpot at the Betsson online casino, with the story developing into a true rags to riches tale.

A young Norwegian student has become the world’s biggest online jackpot winner after hitting a massive €11.7 million win playing Mega Fortune slots at the Betsson online casino.

Most progressive jackpots require a minimum bet of $3-$5 per spin to be eligible for the bonus but the recent jackpot winner — who still remains anonymous — won the massive jackpot while using free promotional spins as part of a casino bonus offer.

According to the new millionaire himself: ” It was a shocking experience when the €11.7 millions dropped before my eyes. I couldn’t believe it….I had to call my brother and a few friends. It hasn’t really sunk in yet…It was just impossible to sleep, and I am shaking and sweating. I haven’t thought about what to do with the winnings. I need to try and calm down before even thinking of what I do with the money!”

Due to the size of the jackpot Betsson is going so far as to provide a free financial advisor to help the winner wisely invest his money.

Progressive jackpots are just as popular at online casinos as at their offline counterparts, with each of the major providers of casino software offering progressive jackpots that regularly pay out $1 million and up to the winner when they’re hit.

PokerScout stated that Bodog’s blocking of data tracking is in some way related to the events of Black Friday. The statement claims “it is apparent that a major objective was actually to prevent PokerScout from tracking Bodog’s traffic.” and later added that “Bodog asked to be completely removed from the PokerScout website shortly after Black Friday”.

Yet Another Reason to Gamble at Online Casinos

September 25, 2011 Leave a comment

A deadly shootout between rival banker gangs at a Nevada casino highlights yet another reason why more and more players are choosing to gamble at online casinos instead.

The leader of a San Jose chapter of the Hells Angels biker gang was one of two people killed in a shootout on the casino floor of casino floor of John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nevada.

The incident occurred during the annual five-day “Street Vibrations” biker festival that draws thousands of bikers from across the US. Sparks police said they responded to a fight involving rival gangs in the casino, with gun shots fired before police could arrive.

The parties involved were rumored to be the Hells Angels and Vagos biker gang, which according to police are “blood enemies”.

It’s the second time that casinos in Nevada have played host to a similar scene; in 2002 at Harrah’s Casino & Hotel in Laughlin a brawl between the Hells Angels and Mongols left three people dead on the casino floor.

While violence is rare is US casinos in Nevada and elsewhere, the accumulation of such concerns, worries, and added cost of spending a night at a casino has helped boost the popularity of online play.

Many games such as slots are essentially exactly the same and offer similar huge progressive jackpots, with the convenience of enjoying other games any time of the day or night making up for missing some of the excitement of playing at a live casino.

Overall NFC East Sports Betting Odds Likely Affected by Michael Vick Injury

September 24, 2011 Leave a comment

The injury-depleted Philadelphia Eagles will host the New York Giants in their home opener this weekend, looking to establish some early season positioning in an unpredictable NFC East Division.

On the NFL betting board the Eagles are the team to beat, with 8/1 betting odds of winning the Super Bowl, but not far behind are the Giants, Redskins and Cowboys. If Michael Vick’s recent concussion proves severe, then either of the three underdog clubs could make a run for the division.

This Sunday it will be Eli Manning and the Giants charged with the task of disrupting the quarterbackless Eagles and they may have just the opportunity.

For as deep as Andy Reid’s Philadelphia team has been, there is no denying the spark that Vick has provided since returning to the NFL. His on the field production has been obvious, but it has been his resurgence in the football community off the field that has allowed the Eagles to successfully transition from the Donovan McNabb era.

With Philly’s future in limbo, the Giants stand to benefit most, provided they can hold off a Redskins lineup currently powered by a refreshed Rex Grossman and a Cowboys club struggling with quarterback health issues of their own.

No timetable has been announced for Vick’s return to the field, so it is likely that offseason acquisition Vince Young will step in with the start.
