Vegas police apprehend Rio casino crooks

February 28, 2011 Leave a comment

The gun-toting thief who walked into the Rio casino last week, grabbed gambling chips and threatened dealer and patrons with a hand gun before escaping is behind bars, thanks to quick work by the Las Vegas police.

The robber pitched up at the Rio in the early hours of the morning in a taxi, wearing a fake moustache, sunglasses and a mafia-style fedora. He managed to run off with $32,000-worth of chips, exiting the scene in a taxi.

The case attracted media interest because it presented a similar modus operandi to last December’s $1.5 million motorcycle-rider heist at the Bellagio, although police do not believe the two cases are connected.

The police have announced the arrest within hours of the robbery of taxi-driver Hiroyuki Yamaguchi (61), who is alleged to have been in on the plot, with full knowledge of the principal criminal’s plans.

His detention was soon followed by the arrest of Steven Gao (45), who is alleged to have grabbed the chips from a Pai Gow poker table, and intimidated patrons and a dealer with a hand gun when they tried to stop him.

Also taken into custody was Edward Land (41) who police say met with Gao at another casino after the robbery and received $18,000 in stolen chips.

Clark County police investigations are continuing into charges of robbery, burglary and conspiracy. Bail for each of the detained men has been set at $25,000.

Finding a Site That Offers Good Free Casino Games For Free

February 28, 2011 Leave a comment

There are a number of websites out there that are designed to help you identify the best of something. One of the areas that you might probably need a little help with would be to perhaps identify the right kind of website that offers free casino games. There are a couple of things that you might probably be interested in for being sure that you do get a good list. Continue reading to be able to figure out a good way in which you can have access to some of the good websites that are out there.

Comprehensive listing

One of the basic requirements of a website of this kind would probably have to be that they be able to list the websites thoroughly in order to be compared. Hence, it is important that you go to a website that is able to factor in a lot of websites and pick from many rather than just shortlist a handful of these websites. In this way, you can be assured that when you look at a site for the free casino games, you would be seeing something that has been shortlisted from a comprehensive source.

Good user reviews

A good website can also be identified by the different user reviews that it has received. This is an important thing to be assured that you are not simply on a site that does not provide particularly useful information. Many people have learnt that trusting the source of your information comes on top of the priority, before you can actually use the information for anything as such. After all, you wouldn’t want to simply take undue risks because you read about it somewhere. It only takes a little more time and is definitely worth it.

Easy to understand

Sometimes, websites that offer such information might have a very difficult layout, which makes it extremely challenging to follow anything that has been put on the website. Even the most highly rated websites might not be useful for you if the information present here is not put in a nice and understandable manner. Thus, you might want to look at alternatives if you are unable to properly understand what you might be getting into. A good website that talks about sites offering free casino games should not really be as hard to identify. In fact, you can save a lot of time if you get to such a site early on.

The Kings Speech for Best Film, David Fincher for Best Director, Colin Firth for Best Actor and Natalie Portman for Best Actress. That is if the bookies odds are to be believed, tonight in California.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power make all of the above hot betting favourites to scoop an award at this weekend’s Academy Awards but there are whispers that a major upset could be on the cards in Hollywood.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for the bookmaker, said: “Despite the fact we’ve seen the odds crash for The King’s Speech we’ve taken more money and more bets overall on The Social Network. The Academy are notorious for producing a few shock surprises on the night so this year’s Best Picture category could be one!”

The Social Network, which tells the story of the founding of social networking site Facebook had initially been the bookies favourite to scoop the golden statue for Best Film but in recent weeks David Fincher’s highly acclaimed biographical drama has drifted to as big as betting odds of 4/1.

The Oscars, hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, takes place this Sunday at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

California Tribe’s Back Correa’s Online Gambling Legislation

Best Online Casinos

The battle has begun in California over whether or not to follow New Jersey lawmakers and legalize online casinos. Two bills have already been proposed, with one calling for full online gambling, and the other limiting the Internet gambling to only poker.

Senator Lou Correa has proposed Senate Bill 40, a proposal to regulate online poker, and allow only existing casinos or tribal casinos to operate the online gambling sites. The Santa Ana Democrat has the support of the Indian tribe’s.

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association voted 9-4 in favor of backing Correa’s bill over the proposal from Senator Roderick Wright. The Inglewood lawmaker wants all forms of online gambling regulated, and many of his colleagues have shared that opinion.

California has been racing New Jersey and Florida to become the first state in the country to regulate online gambling. New Jersey appeared to have won the battle when legislators passed an Internet gambling bill earlier this year. Governor Chris Christie, however, may veto the legislation.

If Christie vetoes the bill, and a decision must be made by Thursday, then California would again be the front runner to become the first state to take the bold move of regulating online gambling. It is not yet known whether either Correa’s or Wright’s bill will make it through this year.

The Indian tribe’s have spent millions of dollars over the years lobbying California lawmakers to expand gambling. Poker interest groups have also joined in that fight in recent years, with online poker becoming one of the most popular entertainment outlets for Americans over the past decade.
